Dr. Kiran Bedi, IPS (Retd.) delivered a lecture titled "Beyond Glass Ceilings: Women Leaders Empowering the Future" to the students and staff of the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Lavale, Pune campus. The session provided valuable insights into leadership, empowerment, and overcoming barriers.
Symbiosis International (Deemed University) and Deakin University Establish Dual Degree Programs Symbiosis International (Deemed University) [SIU] and Deakin University, Australia, have signed a dual degree agreement for starting three dual degree programs at Symbiosis Institute of Technology, Pune. This initiative will enable students to complete two Bachelor's degrees concurrently within a four-year period.
Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar Conferred with 'Jivan Sadhana Puraskar' by SPPU Prof. (Dr.) S. B. Mujumdar, Founder and President, Symbiosis and Chancellor, Symbiosis International (Deemed University) has been honoured with the prestigious ‘Jivan Sadhana Puraskar’ by the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SSPU) in recognition of his valuable contributions in the field of education for decades.

Drawing strength from this trust, ‘Symbiosis University Hospital and Research Centre’ (SUHRC) was conceived to redefine healthcare in Pune by establishing a new state-of-the-art tertiary care hospital. Our purpose is to provide modern & professional healthcare to the Rural & Urban community equitably.
SUHRC started operations in mid-2019, and boasts a strong team of distinguished healthcare practitioners, qualified nursing and paramedical staff. The hospital has the latest, state-of-the-art technology to assist the doctors. The hospital’s focus is on research and it has collaborated with the existing research centres of the University.
The Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Museum & Memorial in Pune was the site of a special ceremony on April 14, 2025, marking the 134th birth anniversary of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Symbiosis Society organized the event. Maharashtra State Minister Smt. Madhuri Misal was the Chief Guest for the function. Prof. Dr. S.B. Mujumdar, Chancellor, SIU presided the function. The museum, a repository of Dr. Ambedkar's personal belongings donated by his wife, Dr. Savita Ambedkar, and curated under the direction of Smt. Sanjivini S. Mujumdar, serves as a vital tribute to his life and work.
Symbiosis Medical College for Women (SMCW) inaugurated “Surtaal”, a Centre for Performing Arts at Symbiosis International (Deemed University) Lavale, Pune campus on 21st March, 2025. The legendary singer Usha Uthup was invited as the Chief Guest to inaugurate the Centre.
Prof. (Dr.) Shantaram Balwant Mujumdar (Founder & President)
Dr. S.B. Mujumdar is the Founder and President of Symbiosis – a multi-national, multi-lingual and multidisciplinary educational complex of repute. A distinguished academician and educationist, he is also the Chancellor of Symbiosis International (Deemed University).
Dr. Mujumdar was born on 31st July 1935 at Gadhinglaj, a Taluka in Kolhapur District in Maharashtra. He had his school education at Gadhinglaj and college education at Kolhapur and Pune. In his Master's Degree (M.Sc.) in Botany, he stood first class first with distinction in Pune University. He obtained his Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Microbiology from Pune University.
He joined Fergusson College, Pune as Professor and Head of Department in Botany which position he held for 20 years. He was a recognized post graduate teacher and a guide for Ph.D. students. He was a member of the Pune University's Executive Council, the Senate, Academic Council (for 14 years) and Chairman of the Board of Studies in Botany (for 9 years). He was also I.C.C.R's Foreign Academic Advisor in Pune University (for 7 years). He has published over 50 original research articles in several national and international scientific journals. He has authored several books on Life Sciences and has contributed over 200 articles on Science, Education and Youth Development. He has also been the Chairman of the Educational Wing of FICCI in 2005-2006.
