Symbiosis has always been “Home Away from Home” to foreign students and home of different cultures through these students. The Afro-Asian students are in a majority amongst these international students. With this view in mind, this Afro Asian cultural museum was established. The museum has a sense of belonging as the international students have contributed substantially to it.
Symbiosis society’s Afro Asian Cultural Museum inaugurated by the then President of India, H. E. Shri K. R. Narayanan on 19th December 2001. This museum is only one of its kind in India.
This museum consists of information panels of 70 African & Asian countries. Each panel gives information about countries' detailed profiles like location, history, culture, sports, national anthems, languages, and also has information about their flag & people. It also contains artefacts such as Bells from Bhutan’s palace, traditional coffee pots from Eritrea, traditional dagger from Middle East, replica of Pashupatinath temple & kukri from Nepal, replica of dragons and religious mass from Bhutan, dodo which is national bird of Mauritius like this Hundreds of artefacts from various countries have turned the Symbiosis Society's Afro Asian Cultural Museum into an enriching experience for those who have passion for learning culture of various countries.
This is the only museum of its kind where visitors will get an opportunity to see the various artefacts, culture, and currency and know about the people of different countries through this collection at one place. There are Five Touchscreens from which you will find much information about each country. Students can also play quiz to know better about these countries. A large LED wall is installed at the entrance of the museum which displays films of all the Afro Asian countries.
The main aim behind this museum is to educate the Indian as well as foreign students about the culture of different countries. Hence, I request you to encourage your staff and students to visit this museum which will make them aware of the rich heritage of these countries.
